Dior Addict Lip Polish

Overall Rating

I think of Dior Lip Polish as a big brother of Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm, one of my favorite lip products ever — I even took pictures of them together! Lip Polish is a lip primer and a lip polish that comes in universal sheer baby pink color (exactly the same pink that Lip Glow comes in). However, while Lip Glow works as a balm and a moisturizer, Lip Polish is more like an everyday hydrating lip gloss.

Lip Polish is expensive — $33, and honestly, I am not sure if such high price is justified. I am a big fan of Dior products and almost always think they are worth every penny I pay for them but not in this case. Let me tell you why.

The tube is very pretty. It’s made of clear plastic with Dior logo and has a silver cap. A spin-on applicator is nice too: not too big, not too small. Better than the one for Dior Addict Fluid Stick. The description on Sephora calls this applicator “revolutionary” – well, I think it’s a bit of exaggeration. However, this applicator does do its job right: it picks up the right amount of product and rolls it evenly on the lips.

Dior Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup SPF 15 (in 031 Sable/Sand)

Overall Rating

This is one of the classic Dior foundations which has been around for a while. It’s part of their Nude line which is directed on helping you achieve flawless and at the same time natural look. I already wrote the review of Dior Diorskin Nude compact powder and now it’s the foundation’s turn.

As everything by Dior, Nude Skin-Glowing foundation is pricey: $50. However, in my opinion, it’s really worth it. It gives me excellent coverage and lasts for a long time.

Nude foundation comes in a clear glass bottle with a silver cap. The pump works really well and the bottle will look cute and elegant on your vanity table. Also, the glass is rather thick so you don’t have to worry about the bottle breaking when traveling. I took the foundation to two trips and it survived them without a single scratch. I bought Nude foundation in 031 Sable/Sand color which is medium color with strong yellow undertone. It matches my skin perfectly (see pictures above).

Dior ‘Rouge Contour’ Lip Liner in 775 Holiday Red

Overall Rating

I got this lip liner as a complement to Dior 743 Rouge Zinnia lipstick. The colors matched perfectly, and although I am not a big fan of lip liners (keep forgetting to use them) I thought that such a bright and bold color of lipstick had to be accompanied with a matching lip liner.

‘Rouge Contour’ lip liner pencils are a line of rich-colored lip liners by Dior. Each costs $30, which is quite pricey in my opinion. This lip liner comes as a pencil and has a brush on the other side. There is also a complimentary sharpener, which a nice touch. I remember how upset I was when I bought Urban Decay lip pencil without realizing that I had to buy their sharpener separately.

The Holiday Red color is a rich red with a dark rose undertone. It looks beautiful and elegant. It glides on very easily and application doesn’t require a lot of expertise. As a lip liner it is not drying. I know that some ladies use lip liners as lipsticks but I never do it so I wouldn’t know how drying it would be if you apply it all over your lips.

Dior Holiday Couture Collection Smoky Eye Palette (Limited Edition)

Overall Rating

This palette was an impulse purchase. I was looking for a lipstick but then saw this palette and decided I had to buy it right away. It had all my favorite colors and looked very practical.

In my opinion, this is one of the most minimalistic (in both design and eye shadow colors) palettes by Dior. It has four eyeshadows; the case is made of black, leather-like material and doesn’t have any decoration except word ‘Dior’ in golden. To be honest, I wouldn’t call a ‘holiday palette’ because it’s so simple and understated and just doesn’t look like a festive piece of makeup.

This palette is $55, a bit cheaper than usual 5-color Dior palettes but it it has only four colors.

Dior ‘Diorific – Golden Shock’ Lipstick in 005 Daring Shock and 007 Passion Shock

Overall Rating

Lipsticks in Dior’s Diorific line are stunning this year. Gold is in right now (and has been for a while), and a lot of fashion gurus employ gold motive in one way or another. However, not many were able to introduce the richness and beauty of gold with such chic and taste as Dior.

The Diorific line this year includes a variety of products: from lipsticks to nail polish. Today I will only talk about lipsticks. I am in total love with them. I haven’t bought any other Diorific products because the reviews on some of them were not positive (golden powder) and moreover, I wasn’t interested in the highlights of the collection: nail polishes and powder with shimmer. I really liked the limited edition eye shadows but by the time I wanted to buy them they were gone. 🙁 Oh well.

There are two types of lipsticks in the Diorific line 2014. The first one is called simply ‘Diorific’ and the second one is ‘Diorific – Golden Shock.’ ‘Diorific’ is an array of rich festive shades with long-lasting matte finish. ‘Diorific – Golden Shock’ is a set of 6 two-tone lipsticks. One tone is matte finish, and another one is the same shade with gold shimmer added. I haven’t bought any Diorifics yet although I am planning to, but I have two Golden Shock lipsticks.

Dior Diorskin Nude Compact (in Cameo 22)

Overall Rating

A compact powder is a must-have for me. I never use compact powder when do my full makeup but have to have it in the purse for touch-ups during the day.

Diorskin Nude Compact comes in a pretty stainless-steel-and-glass-like case. It’s nice to carry around and it has a separate space for a sponge which I appreciate a lot. I never liked compacts with the sponge right on top of the actual powder. This compact is quite expensive — $50 but it should last for a long while (considering I use it for touch-ups only), so it’s not too bad. It also has a nice, large enough mirror.

Nude Compact comes in 10 colors. I use Cameo 22, which is perfect for my light medium (Asian, with yellow undertones) skin. First I wanted to get Medium Beige 30 bit it was way too dark for me.

Dior Rouge Dior Couture Colour Voluptuous Care Lipstick (in 743 Rouge Zinnia)

Overall Rating

The search of a perfect winter red has been epic. I have a medium skin with yellow undertones and most reds don’t work with it. Usually I just avoid the Christmas red obsession altogether and wear my nude pink lipsticks but this year I decided that I do need an awesome red in my life. After a lot of research, I decided to go with Guerlain (I love their lip products) but both Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s failed me miserably: out of 6-7 existing Guerlain classic red shades they only carried 1 or 2 at the store. And, naturally, those two reds they had didn’t work for me at all.

Then I went to take a look at Dior’s reds. I have a very long relationship with Dior (I bought my very first high-end makeup from them), and love their lipsticks just a bit less than Guerlain’s.

Dior Rouge Voluptuous Care Lipstick line provides a wide range of full-coverage lip colors with satin finish and moisturizing effect. It costs $35 before tax. Rouge Zinnia, in my opinion, is the only truly red shade in this collection. From my experience, Dior usually concentrates on pinks and nudes of all shades (2014 Winter Collection is an exception).

Dior ‘Diorsnow’ BB Eye Cream SPF 20 PA++

Overall Rating

(Another name: Diorsnow UV Protection BB Eye Sunscreen Crème)

This is the first (and so far the only) product I bought from the new Diorsnow collection. The purchase was rather impulsive: I was at Nordstrom and liked an idea of a BB eye cream. Especially the one that, according to the description, helps cover dark circles and has SPF 20. So, I decided to try it.

This eye cream comes in a small tube which reminds me of Diorskin Hydra Life BB Eye Creme (it was so heavy and cakey I couldn’t use it). Essentially it is the same tube but colored white. The packaging is very nice but nothing special.

Dior Addict Fluid Stick (in Vertigo)

Overall Rating

I was really excited when this product first came on the market: Dior has been advertising it for a long time and the whole concept sounded awesome and intriguing. This lipstick was supposed to be three in one: lipstick, lip gloss and stain. Once it became available, I bought it. It was a bit hard to pick a color because practically all colors in this Dior line are extremely bright – a bit too bright for my taste. To be fair, the description of this fluid stick does talk about “maximum color” and “sensational color payout”, and I should have paid attention to it. The thing is that I expected colors to be rich and deep but not that painfully bright. Also keep in mind that on the website (both Sephora and Nordstrom, at least) colors look more toned down than in reality. So, before purchasing this lipstick I would strongly recommend going to the store and trying it first.

I got this baby in Vertigo, which looked like classy deep pink. Packaging is very nice – at the first glance it looks like a lip gloss tube but if you turn it upside down, it looks like there is a lipstick inside. It is an optical illusion – it is really a fluid inside but the tube is shaped in such a way that fluid looks like a lipstick.

My first issues started with a brush. It is very inconvenient to use. A bit too big for this type of product – it is really hard to stay within the lip line when applying the fluid with it, and it also is very ticklish. I know, it sounds crazy but it’s true!

Dior Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm

Overall Rating

I am afraid a lot of my blogs will be dedicated to various lip products because I am completely obsessed with them. I spend a significant portion of my life (and funds) researching lip balms and lipsticks, lip glosses and stains. Partially my obsession can be justified: my lips are very dry and need constant nourishment. But to be honest, I just love all lip-related products. Today I would like to tell you about Dior famous Crème de Rose lip balm. A lot has been said about it but I still feel like the Internet can survive my two cents.

I can’t say that with Dior Crème de Rose my search really stopped (I don’t think it ever will – too much fun) but it did slow down.

First of all, it is quite pricey ($27) and I wouldn’t say that this price is necessarily justified for everybody. It all depends on how desperate you are with your lips. If you are lucky one and your lips are in pretty good condition and you just want a moisturizer – go with any drugstore chapstick or something reasonably priced like Jack Black or Tony Moly lip balm. If you are like me, that is, you have permanently dry lips (mine are so dry that bleed), tried dozens of lip balms and most of them didn’t work, I would definitely recommend trying Dior Crème de Rose.
