Dior Diorskin Nude Skin-Glowing Makeup SPF 15 (in 031 Sable/Sand)

Overall Rating

This is one of the classic Dior foundations which has been around for a while. It’s part of their Nude line which is directed on helping you achieve flawless and at the same time natural look. I already wrote the review of Dior Diorskin Nude compact powder and now it’s the foundation’s turn.

As everything by Dior, Nude Skin-Glowing foundation is pricey: $50. However, in my opinion, it’s really worth it. It gives me excellent coverage and lasts for a long time.

Nude foundation comes in a clear glass bottle with a silver cap. The pump works really well and the bottle will look cute and elegant on your vanity table. Also, the glass is rather thick so you don’t have to worry about the bottle breaking when traveling. I took the foundation to two trips and it survived them without a single scratch. I bought Nude foundation in 031 Sable/Sand color which is medium color with strong yellow undertone. It matches my skin perfectly (see pictures above).

The foundation is liquid but has rather thick texture. It is much thicker than Dior Forever foundation I had before. I don’t have a problem with that – actually, I prefer it to be thicker because I feel more dense texture provides better coverage. The Nude foundation works best with Dior Professional Finish Fluid Foundation (Full Coverage) brush. That brush has a dense, beveled head and along with rich foundation gives awesome coverage. It works alright with MUFE Large Foundation Brush 108 and Sephora Pro Flawless#56 brush as well, but for the best results I would recommend using Dior. It feels like they were made for each other.

I noticed that Nude foundation covers freckles and other imperfections better than other foundations and BB creams I used, including Dior Forever, Dior BB Cream and L’Occitane BB Cream. I am not a huge fan of concealers because they close up pores and add more weight to the makeup, therefore I am very happy I don’t have use them that often anymore. Nude foundation does its job well. This foundation is by no means lightweight but it conceals imperfections, blends with your skintone beautifully, makes your skin look glow and radiant without looking shiny and sweaty and, most importantly, provides flawless and bare-skin look. After I apply it, my skin looks healthy, glowing and at the same time so natural that no one would guess I am wearing any foundation at all. I hate when you have flawless look but the makeup is so heavy it looks almost theatrical. Nowadays, I would often just apply foundation, blush, powder eyebrows, use a tinted lip balm and – tada! – I have a perfectly natural, healthy and glowing look. The foundation does not melt or fade away – I would wear it for 12 hours and would need only a couple of touch-ups with compact powder. Another thing that I like about this foundation is that it moisturizes my dry skin. Sometimes I have to use antibiotic gels or lotions which make my skin peeling. Other foundations I used would make it even worse (peeling skin more visible) but not Nude foundation. It literally melts in my skin and hides most problems.

Nude foundation has SPF 15 which makes it a good companion in summer months.

Before I apply Nude foundation, I first prep my skin with Kate Somerville moisturizer and one of three primers: Guerlain Meteorites, Smashbox Photo Finish or NARS Light Optimizing. Guerlain and NARS work with Nude foundation perfectly. Smashbox makes it harder for the foundation to melt in. However, when applied it does do its job – the coverage and glow are amazing. After I apply the foundation, I apply Benefit High Beam highlighter (you can read more about application here), follow up with Hourglass blush, Dior bronzer and MUFE loose powder. Sometimes I use La Mer loose powder instead of the MUFE one.

Nude foundation didn’t make me break out and doesn’t irritate my skin.

Conclusion: it is obvious that I am in love with this foundation – it gives me good coverage, it doesn’t feel too heavy and it makes my skin look amazing. Dior, as always, lived up to my expectations. Now I can’t wait to try their new foundation – Diorskin Nude Air Serum SPF 20. Ah, I wish I had some cash to spare. 🙂
